The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Armstrong can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Driftwood & Catfish

Uncle Dick was a fine man and loved by his younger sister Eleanor A. Gerganous and her children (Pam, Debbie, and Carl).  He made a few trips to North Carolina to visit with Eleanor.  He always liked to hop on military flights to get here.  When he did make it, he would always bring Eleanor a gift of his own creation.

He loved to take pieces of driftwood and create a natural piece of art and add a pen or clock to it.  Eleanor still has the last piece he brought to her on top of her china cabinet.  It is very dear to her and she proudly displays it.  The other thing I remember most about Uncle Dick was that he loved to eat.

Eleanor would always cook him up some good old southern meals and he always ate till he looked like he would bust.  He always loved when we would all go out for dinner at one of our local seafood restaurants.  He loved to get fried catfish.  In the evenings he, Eleanor and his great nephews would sit at the table and talk, laugh and play cards.
