Otis Randel "Randy"  Lionberger
Otis Randel Lionberger “Randy” of Tioga, Louisiana went to join our Heavenly Father on Friday, June 10, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Vicki Garon Lionberger, sisters Donna L. Wright of Austin, TX, Darlene L. Harris of Starkville, MS, and Sue L. Tubb (husband Wayne) of Williams, AZ. Also left to cherish his memory are his step-son Sidney Rawdon of Tioga, LA, sons Steve (wife Jo) of Lake Charles, LA, Charles “Chuck” ( wife Teresa) of Alexandria, LA, and Todd of Pineville, LA, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his former wife Sue Buller Lionberger.
Randy served as a United States Marine Corp Staff Sergeant from 1953-1955 in the Korean War, First Marine Division. He also served in the Louisiana National Guard at Camp Beauregard, LA from 1970-1995. Randy had a BS in Geography and retired from the Department of Environmental Quality, State of Louisiana.
The Lord blessed Randy with many talents. His greatest love was music. He played with his church band The Chosen Vessels at Homewood Baptist Church and with C.P. and the Bluegrassers band at Vendor’s Village Flea Market on Saturdays. He was actively involved in volunteering at the Treehouse Children’s Museum with the Rockwell Railroad. He loved riding his Harley and was a member of the Christians Motorcyclist Association. He had a love of making people laugh and helping others. He never met a stranger and always had a pocket full of jokes to tell.
Randy was a spiritual man and he was involved in many church activities including playing with his church band and serving as a church deacon. He was also a member of his church choir and served as Sunday School Secretary.
A “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00 am at Homewood Baptist Church, 3111 Rapides Avenue, Alexandria, LA, 71301, conducted by Pastor Jimmy Koonce and assisted by Rev. Burt Riddle.
In lieu of flowers, Randy requested that memorial donations be given to Homewood Baptist Church, 3111 Rapides Avenue, Alexandria, LA, 71301, (318) 445-3915 and/or Wycliffe Bible Translators (www.wycliffe.org), P.O. Box 620368, Orlando, FL, 32862-0368.
The family of Randy Lionberger wishes to thank Compassionate Care Hospice, Rapides Regional Hospital and Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital for the gentle and loving way they cared for Randy during his illness.
