Funeral services for Mrs. Merle E. Langston will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with the Reverends Sammy Morrow and George Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Langston, age 87, of Pollock, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Tioga Manor Nursing Home, Pineville, Louisiana.

Mrs. Langston retired as a Registered Nurse from Huey P. Long, Rapides General and later in Home Health. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was an artist of oil painting and she loved music, flowers and watching birds. She was a Missionary serving several over sea trips. She sang in the Church choir, played piano, guitar and many other instruments. She will be missed by many. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and also enjoyed visiting Hosanna Baptist Church in Ball, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Langston; parents, Charles and Mildred Evans; five brothers, Ode, Herbert, Lloyd, Glenn and Calvin Evans; one sister, Geraldine Johnson.

She is survived by one son, Ray Anthony (Rachel) of Pollock; one daughter, Suzanne Langston Meshell (Carl) of Shreveport; one brother, Charles Evans of Pollock; two grandchildren, Jason Anthony (Jessica) and Jessica Meshell; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Addison Anthony, Jonathan Meshell and Faith Smith.

Friends may visit on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pollock, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a children’s foster home of the donor’s choice.
