Life Story for Jimmy Harold Sawyer
Jimmy Harold Sawyer of Dry Prong, La passed from this life on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Visitation hours celebrating the life of Jimmy H. Sawyer will be held at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, La. on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm .
Jim was born in Bastrop, LA where he resided until he served in the U. S. Navy. He was employed in air conditioning/refrigeration and then employed by the State of Louisiana for 25 years as a maintenance supervisor. He loved his family and will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him. He loved hunting and was an avid deer hunter and a member of the NRA.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Delda Jean Sawyer and his parents, Kelsie and Ona Sawyer of Bastrop, LA.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Scott E. Sawyer and wife Norma; one sister, Neta Sawyer; grandchildren, Stacey Lachney and Logan Kennedy (Kadie) and great grandchildren, Chelsee Martin, Cale Kennedy and great-great grandchild Treyce King.
Many thanks go out to the nurses from Hospice of Avoyelles (Alexandria Office) for their constant care and compassion. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cancer Center at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA.
