Funeral services for Mr. Hugh Alton Peal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Chaplain Jeff White officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Peal, age 85, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mr. Peal was raised in Marmet, West Virginia. After graduating from East Bank High School, he joined the navy. Mr. Peal retired from military service after 20 years of serving his country in the U.S. Navy 4 years and Air National Guard 16 years. He was an Alexandria businessman for 30 years co-owning Bayou State Insurance Company before retiring.

Mr. Peal is a Lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and a Master Mason of the Salina Lodge #27.

Three weeks earlier, Mr. Peal was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Thelma Peal; parents, Walter and Myrtle Peal; grandson, Joshua Raffray.

He is survived by one son, Jeff L. Peal; two daughters, Melinda P. Bishop and Tracy P. Raffray; six grandchildren, Lori P. Prince, Leslie P. Slappy, Justin T. Raffray, Jessie N. Raffray, Jensen Raffray and Claire E. Bishop; six great-grandchildren.
