Obituary for Evelyn Marie Blodgett (Brown)

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Brown Blodgett will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Reverend Phillip Robertson officiating. Interment will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Deville, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blodgett, age 73, of Kolin, Louisiana, peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, February 27, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 19, 1943 in Holloway, Louisiana to the union of Edgar Brown and Martha Bardwell Brown and was named Evelyn Marie Brown. She was raised in Pineville, Louisiana and attended Pineville High School. She was a very loving wife and devoted mother of five children and a wonderful homemaker. She loved gardening, baking, painting and crafts. Her favorite things were butterflies and hummingbirds. Her greatest joy was to have her family around her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Niles P. Blodgett, Sr.; parents, Edgar and Martha Brown; sister, Sharlene Brown; son-in-law, Charles Hinson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Niles Patrick Blodgett, Jr. (Julia); daughters, Deborah Hinson, Rebecca Williams (Pat), Darla Durgin (Keith), Ruth Basco (Darrell); sisters, Phyllis Bryant (Kent) and Daria Primo (Randy); 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Maria Wedelin of Oklahoma; also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit at Gallagher Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Charles Hinson, Billy Hinson, Joey Blodgett, Jason Williams, Joshua Williams, Daniel Evans, Garth Evans, Dalton Basco and Wesley Basco.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Heart of Hospice and a very special thanks to her very compassionate caregivers, Bonnie White, Angie Brouilette, Darla Durgin and Kimberly Russell.
