Funeral services for Mr. Henry Daniel Brannan, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Reverend Bart Walker officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Brannan, age 87, of Pineville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Brannan served his country faithfully in the Navy and Air Force, serving over 21 years; after retiring from the military he held several positions including Director of Acadiana Research Lab in the Physics Department at the University of Lafayette. He was a Scout Master for a number of years and went on to be a District Commissioner for the Lafayette Region.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett S. and Wilma King Brannan; two sons, Gary L. Brannan and Henry D. Brannan, Jr. and a sister, Joyce Spoone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary “Ginger” Brannan of Pineville, one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brannan (Rawleigh Thompson, Jr.) of Pineville; one sister, Doris Pittman of Tupelo, MS; one granddaughter, Sarah Sleighter of Pineville; two grandsons, Henry D. Brannan, III of Pineville and Cameron J. Brannan of Pennsylvania; one great grandson, Felix Wonders of Pineville.

Friends may call on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
