Obituary for Terry Don Parker
Funeral services for Terry Don Parker, age 60, of Colfax, Louisiana will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana. Burial will be in Frazier Cemetery, Dry Prong, Louisiana, directed by Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory of Ball, Louisiana.
Visitation for Mr. Parker will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.
There was nothing Terry couldn’t accomplish. In in his short 60 years, he was raised up in the rocking chair business, built beautiful rocking chairs that have been purchased and shipped throughout the United States, owned and operated Parker Chairs for over 36 years, co-owned Parker Hill Raceway and taught many life lessons “by his actions” with very few words. When he wasn’t building chairs, racing dirt tracks or teaching life lessons to his family… he was squirrel hunting in Breezy Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Juanita “Nita” Parker of Colfax, his cherished “Daddy’s Girl”, Tracy Parker Murrell (Dewayne) of Colfax (who he built rocking chairs with); two brothers, John Raymond Parker (Tracy) of Colfax and Kirby Don Parker (Linda) of Ball; one grandson, Kasten James Parker (Lawren) and great-granddaughter, Kinlynn Rain Parker.
Terry introduced racing to generations of his family, including John Parker, Sr., Ann Parker, John Parker, Jr., John Parker, III and Kasten Parker. When it came to racing, he was heard to say, “ Come in first place, cause 2nd place is just the first one that lost”.
Terry entered eternal rest on Monday, December 5, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family…the people that meant the most to him. He will be sadly missed by many family and friends.
