Funeral services for Niles Blodgett will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, with Dr. Phillip Robertson and Brother Tom Jordan officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, in Deville, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Blodgett, age 80, of Kolin, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at his home.

Niles Patrick Blodgett was born on March 17, 1936 to Niles Charley Blodgett and Sara Ellen Davis in Mitchell, South Dakota. He spent most of his childhood in Oklahoma. Niles retired from the United States Air Force and was devoted in life to his country and his loving wife and 5 children. His greatest joy in life was having his family with him. His passion included constructing as he was a skilled Master Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Niles C. Blodgett and Sara Davis Blodgett; brother, James Blodgett; sister, Dale Thomas; and son-in-law Chuck Hinson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Evelyn Blodgett, his son, Niles Patrick Blodgett, Jr. (Julia), his daughters, Deborah Hinson, Rebecca Williams (Pat), Darla Durgin (Keith), Ruth Basco (Darrell); his sister Merie Wedelin of Oklahoma; his sister-in-law’s, Phyllis Bryant (Kent) and Daria Primo (Randy); 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Charles Hinson, Billy Hinson, Joey Blodgett, Jason Williams, Joshua Williams, Daniel Evans, Garth Evans, Dalton Basco and Wesley Basco.

Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, in Ball, Louisiana on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Philadelphia Baptist Church at 2:00 pm.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to his very special caregivers, Bonnie White, Angie Brouillette, and granddaughter Kimberly Russell.
