Life Story for Danny Ray Corley
Danny Ray Corley, age 61, of Urania, husband of Judy Menefee Corley, began his new life with our Lord on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016.
He was born in Urania, Louisiana on June 19th, 1955 to Miriam JoAnn Deen and Donald Corley of Urania, Louisiana. Danny Ray is preceded in death by his loving mother, JoAnn Corley , on July 4th, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Judy Corley, and his daughter, Danielle Corley. He also leaves behind his father, Don Corley, beloved brothers and best friends, Jerry Corley and wife Patsy, Wayne Corley and wife Terri, and Mike Corley and wife Teresa. He was a loving uncle to 16 wonderful nieces, nephews, their husbands/wives and many precious great nieces and nephews.
Danny Ray began his career as a carpenter in his mid teens and was a master carpenter by his late twenties. He was an expert woodworker, electrician, plumber, masoner, and roofer. If you live in LaSalle, Caldwell, or Grant Parish chances are you or a family member had the privilege of Danny Ray either building or remodeling your home. His passion for helping people and his love of carpentry went hand in hand and he loved what he did for people. Anything that was broken, he could fix it. Anybody, anywhere in our community knew that if there was a problem, Danny Ray was there to fix it. He was such a gentle and kind man and never met a stranger.
He had a passion for camping and the outdoors. He was a boyscout leader from 1985- 1992 and was a member of the Order of the Arrow, an elite group of Boy Scouts that is highly respected. His other passion was history and he loved antiques.
Danny Ray was a member of the United Methodist Church in Urania all 61 years of his life. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, July 17th, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The memorial service will be Monday, July 18th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Urania United Methodist Church, Urania, Louisiana with Brother Curtis Carroll Officiating. Interment will be at Urania Cemetery, Urania, Louisiana under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.
