James D. "J.D."  Maxwell Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. J.D. Maxwell, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pollock, Louisiana with the Reverends Sammy Morrow, Jerry Fleming and Kevin Simmons officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Maxwell, age 81, of Pollock, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 8, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Maxwell owned and operated several business's during his working career. He owned a reupholster business for several years, a hardware store and convenient store also. He retired after 28 years of service from the Grant Parish School Board as a school bus driver. Mr. Maxwell was a notary for Grant Parish. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Pollock for over 55 years. J.D. enjoyed teaching Sunday School and was also a deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Juberta S. Maxwell; parents, Henry J. and Hattie Maxwell; two grandsons, Cullen Coody and Easton Maxwell.

He is survived by his four sons, Dennis Maxwell (Linda) of Pineville, Doyle Maxwell (Katie) of New Roads, Hank Maxwell of Pineville and Steve Maxwell of Ft. Myers, Florida; two daughters, Patricia Norris (Gerald) of Pollock and Mona Shank (Jerry) of Pollock; one sister, Pauline Sargent of Jena; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice for the love and care given to our father.
