Lloyd Earl “Bill” Dean
Mr. Dean, age 91, of Colfax, Louisiana, passed from this world on Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home.
Services for Mr. Lloyd “Bill” Dean will be held Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Colfax United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church and fellowship hall from 1:00 pm until time of service at 4:00 pm.
Mr. Dean was born June 29, 1924, at Fairmount, Louisiana, to Garland C. Dean, Sr. and Leona Creed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rev. Garland C. Dean, Jr., and his sisters,
Mary Dean Hodnett and Ruth Dean McMullen.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years , Sarah Beall Dean and his children, Sarah Frances Dean Townsend (Carlton), William “Bill” Dean (BoBo), George Dean (Lisa), Albert Dean (Barbara) and John Dean
( Brenda). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dean loved his church and actively served in many capacities. He was the Scout Master of Troop 68 at Colfax ( his four sons and grandson acquired the rank of Eagle Scout during his leadership). He also served in the Marine Air Corp in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Dean loved the land! He farmed the family farm having planted his 70th crop this spring. In 2015, the family farm was recognized by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture as a “Century Farm”. A Century Farm recognizes 100 years of family farm ownership. He was a source of inspiration and the kind of family man and friend that people admired.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Colfax United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 403, Colfax, Louisiana 71417 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
