Funeral services for Mr. Jack Courtney, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Courtney, age 85 of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, November 20, 2015 Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Willie Mynatt Courtney, sister, Jean C. Horner.

Mr. Courtney was the founder of Courtney Construction Company and Courtney Equipment Company which were involved in highway construction and marketing of heavy equipment for over 40 years. Over this period of time much of the road, street and utility infrastructure in the Central Louisiana area were built and expanded by Mr. Courtney and his employees who he dearly loved. Mr. Courtney was a board member and past president of the Associated General Contractors, a board member of the Alexandria Housing Authority and Rapides Parish Crime Stoppers and involved in numerous industry and civic affairs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Darleen Farr Courtney, son Jeff Courtney, daughter Darleen Courtney Laningham (David), grandsons Chase Courtney (Katie), Jackson Laningham and Coury Courtney and special cousins Al and Carolyn Strunk.

Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
