Obituary for Jeffrey Scott Kirkpatrick

Jeffrey Scott Kirkpatrick, age 62, of Tioga, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 25th at Rapides Regional Medical Center following a serious illness. An informal memorial to remember and celebrate his life will be held at his sister's residence. Friends and family may call at 4301 Stillmeadow Lane, in Pineville, Louisiana, between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday February 28, 2015, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Jeffrey was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on January 13, 1953, and lived all of his life in Louisiana. After graduating from Bolton High School in 1971, Jeffrey went on to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana. In 1979, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Jeffrey also completed additional graduate level classes in
psychology.

Jeffrey had a love for science, especially astronomy and enjoyed viewing the heavens all of his life. He loved nature and archeology and was knowledgable of the history of our region. An avid reader and lover of fine literature, he enjoyed books of all genres. Jeffrey's character was very accepting and patient, enjoying people in their uniqueness and taking care of his aging father during the last years of his life. He was involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews, introducing them to fishing, his favorite books, and stamp and coin collecting. A loving Uncle, Jeff stayed in touch with his family through visits, letters and telephone calls.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Leroy and Mildred Bernice Watts Kirkpatrick; and brothers, Carlos Edward Kirkpatrick and William Leroy (Bill) Kirkpatrick, Junior.

He is survived by his sisters, Lynda Lee Kirkpatrick Zaunbrecher of Saranac Lake, New York, and Kelly Jane Kirkpatrick Rawson of Pineville, Louisiana; three nephews, Nicholas Joseph Zaunbrecher, Matthew Karl Zaunbrecher, and Benjamin Felix Zaunbrecher; four nieces, Laura Katharine Zaunbrecher, Mary Analise Zaunbrecher Reeves, Ashley Elizabeth Rawson and Erin Bernice Rawson; and a grand nephew, Leland McKinley Zaunbrecher.
