Rodney lived his 74 years to the fullest. He was known for his hard work and big heart, always willing to do anything for anybody. There was rarely a stranger he'd meet, he'd always find a friend in common. He grew up in the Chambers Community in Lecompte. He worked construction from building local lock and dams to road construction helping build our roadways and interstate, while finishing his work career with the guys at Skip Converse. Rodney enjoyed his time with Popeye and the gang cutting up hogs and cooking cracklins. He enjoyed visiting friends and family, drinking coffee and talking to his cats and dogs.

He is survived by his wife Gail Hickman of 40 years; son Randy Hickman; daughter Kayla DeWilde, son-in-law James DeWilde; mother-in-law, Jessie Crooks; sister, Bonnie Martin. Rodney is well loved and will be dearly missed.

Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 5 pm to 9 pm and on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
