Services celebrating the life of Frances Elaine Sanders Chelette will be at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Iatt Baptist Church in Verda, Louisiana with Sonny Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Iatt Cemetery, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Chelette, age 73, of Colfax, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at her daughters home in Aloha, Louisiana, surrounded by her family, after an lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born at home in Grant Parish, Louisiana on November 24, 1941.
She worked at the sewing factory in Colfax when it first opened as Brooks, then Dittos. She also worked as a clerk at JD’s Grocery, K&M Construction as a flagger and then a dumptruck driver; in the late 80’s and early 90’s she worked for Red River Waterways on Lock & Dam #2 and #3 checking wells and operating equipment. She was one of the best Mom’s ever. Our hearts will always be with her, we love you. God bless us all.


She is preceded in death by her father, Jewel Oxwood Sanders; mother, Pearl Ferrier Sanders Shipp; two brothers, Rodney Wayne Sanders and Al Harding Sanders; her former husband and father of her children, Joe Chelette.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Connie Frances Chelette Lasyone and husband David of Aloha; two sons, Craig Edward Chelette of Colfax, Eric Keith Chelette and wife Angel Duncan of Colfax; four grandsons, James and Garth Lasyone of Colfax, Chevy and Jeffrey Chelette of Colfax; sister, Phyllis Gail Sanders DeLong and husband, Robby of Dartigo; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Friends may call at Iatt Baptist Church, Verda, Louisiana on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday, February 10, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
