Obituary for William "Roger" Hanes

Mr. William "Roger" Hanes, age 93, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 13, 2023 at his home in Pineville, surrounded by his loving family.

The Visitation for Mr. Roger will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Gallagher Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Tim Herrington officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thompson Hanes and Bethie Farr Hanes; siblings, Aubrey Hanes and wife Eloyse, and Homer Hanes and wife Joyce; and granddaughter, Haley Teal.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 happy years, Virginia Northup Hanes; sons, Donovan Hanes (Kathleen) and Kim Hanes (Janice); step children, Sami Essam and Jay Hatcher (Misty); sister, Anna Beth Simmons; grandchildren, Brandon Hanes (Amanda), Robin Bynog, Caleb Hatcher (Sierra), Richard Sparkman (Virginia Hughes), Alivia Montgomery, Trey Hatcher, and Kaytee Hatcher; great grandchildren, Jayden Hatcher, Deven Crooks, Alexus King, Kailyn Bynog, Chloe Bynog, Emily Russel, Levi Prince, Harper Rose Terrell, Haley Rae Hatcher; and Lillie Elizabeth Sparkman; and a host of extended family and friends.

Mr. Roger was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army National Guard. Mr. Roger's favorite pastime was working, which was shown throughout his life. He worked with different auto parts stores, Petron for most of his working life, and then volunteered wherever he could help. He was the song leader for many years at Central Missionary Baptist Church was was active in the choir long after that. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.
