Waymond Lee Taylor was born on June 23,1935, in Olla, Louisiana, to the union of his parents, John Earl Taylor, Sr. and Ellen McDonald Taylor and passed from this life on Monday, June 25, 2022.
Waymond was a devoted family man who loved his family and loved the Lord. He loved hunting, fishing and reading westerns. He loved John Wayne movies and also watching Grit TV. Waymond’s favorite pass time was mowing. He loved his zero-turn lawn mower and he mowed the Old Bethel Cemetery for approximately 15 years. He took great pride in making the church cemetery look very nice and manicured. The other job that really looked forward to was helping Larry with his burial service. They worked for years together with the DOTD and after Larry retired, he began a burial service and Waymond loved to help Larry set up the grave sites and prepare for families to arrive at the graveside. He took great pride in his work. He never missed the opportunity to go prepare a service until he became ill and was unable to help and was also no longer able to mow Old Bethel Cemetery. He had high hopes of returning to both and working as he had in the past. Waymond begin his career at Selig Manufacturing Company in Monroe, Louisiana. He was later hired by the Depart of Transportation and Development (DOTD) as an equipment operator. After retiring from the DOTD, Waymond went to work as a Road Grader operator for the Caldwell Parish Police Jury and he truly enjoyed working with the equipment and doing a service for the people of Caldwell Parish.
Waymond was a dedicated worker and believed in working hard for his employers. However, Waymond had many hobbies too. He loved to work in his woodshop with his wife of 42 years, Eunice. They loved to go to craft festivals and sell the wood crafts that he created. They won many blue ribbons over the years. He also loved to go to the Olla Fair each year with Larry and Jenan and they went every night the fair was opened. Waymond loved to hunt, and he grew up hunting with his dad and brothers and he taught his boys to hunt, and they experienced many hunting adventures over the years. It was only in the last couple of years that he was unable to hunt, but was hoping that was only temporary.
