Obituary for Walter Wayne McGlothlin Sr.

Funeral services for Walter Wayne McGlothlin, Sr. will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Fairfield Pentecostal House of Praise Church, 198 Fairfield Church Road in Dry Prong, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory in Ball, Louisiana with Reverends Kenneth Hyde and Wayne Setliff officiating.

Interment to follow at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Dry Prong, Louisiana.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joseph McGlothlin, Ethan Futrell, Zachary Newton, Mikey Merrell, Dylan Merrell, and Mike Merrell. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Newton, Randy Painter, Billy Chelette, Curtis Futrell, Justin McGlothlin, and Reuel Chelette, Jr.

Visitation will be held beginning on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM until service time on Friday all at the church.

Walter Wayne McGlothlin, Sr., age 74, a resident of Dry Prong, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at his home, with his loving family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack McLaughlin; his adopted father, Louis McGlothlin; his mother, Syble Painter McGlothlin; and his paternal siblings, Bertha Simons, Betty Folden, Rose Arnold, Cindy "Bush" McLaughlin, and Jimmy McLaughlin.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Alyson “ Puss” McGlothlin; his loving sons, Walter McGlothlin, Jr. (Melissa), Joseph McGlothlin (Cassandra), and Brandon McGlothlin (Cody); his 7 grandchildren, Heavenly West (Clayton), Justin McGlothlin, Dustin McGlothlin, Tesa McNeely, Ricky McNeely, Caitlyn Futrell (Curtis), and Courtney McGlothlin; his 15 great grandchildren” PawPaw’s Pills, Sadie, Ellie Anna, Lallie, Surinatie, Santanna, Grayson, Cecil, Gannon, Karolynn, Jarrett, Sawyer, Ethan, Gabe, Lanie, and Zackery; his maternal siblings, Gene McGlothlin (Marie), Gary McGlothlin, Darrell McGlothlin, and Kevin McGlothlin (Patricia), Barbara McCormack, Gayle Bryant, and Pam Newton (Robert Dale); his paternal siblings, Douglas McLaughlin, Landry McLaughlin, Edward McLaughlin (Donna), and Kathy West; his numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

An avid outdoorsman, Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a retired saw hand in the logging industry. He was very well known for his great sense of humor. If he did not pick on you, he did not like you. A friend to all, Walter would be there for anyone in need and would give you the shirt off his back. Above all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
