Obituary for Vivian Powell Wampler

Vivian Powell Wampler of Colfax passed away on March 29, 2022. She was 92.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 2 at Bethel Church Cemetery in Colfax. Officiating the service will be Rev. Lloyd Whitman. The family will be at the cemetery early for visitation.

Vivian graduated from Alexandria Business College. She retired from Louisiana State Department of Family Services, where she worked determining eligibility for various programs.

Vivian attended Colfax Baptist Church most of her life. She loved “her” church and worked tirelessly to see that people were introduced to her Savior.

Vivian loved her family and exemplified the sacrificial wife and mother. More importantly, Vivian loved Jesus. She walked with the Lord through some very difficult life challenges. She was, without a doubt, the spiritual “glue” in her family. She touched so many lives through her work both inside and outside the church.

Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Allen E. Wampler; parents, Walter C. and Della Hayes Powell; one brother, Rev. Walter C. (Dub) Powell; two sisters, Ina Vee Powell Prather and Erlene Powell Childers, and grandson Shane Maxwell.

Mrs. Wampler is survived by her four children and their families: Garland A. Wampler (LaDonna) of Bentley, LA, Gregory N. Wampler (Robbie) of Pineville, LA, Kathy W. Massingale (Matt) of Franklin, TN, and Bruce M. Wampler (Debbie) of Shreveport, LA.

Also surviving Vivian are her grandchildren Nicole Wampler, Laura Wampler, Lauren Massingale Butler, Whitney Massingale Neil and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Buckalew and his nurse Debby, as well as to Brookdale Senior Living and Compassionate Care Hospice Services.
