Obituary for Velma Leona McKay (Johnson)
Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Leona McKay will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rusty Thrift officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Park under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana. Visitation for Mrs. McKay will be on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana.
Mrs. McKay entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at her residence in Alexandria, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Johnson and five siblings.
Mrs. McKay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a member of the Central Louisiana Doll Club for several years and will be missed by all that knew and loved her. The McKay family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice and special thanks to Betty Gaspard and Leanne Mizell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 66 years, Oddly McKay, Sr; two daughters, Suzanne Ford (Ronnie) and Melissa Oliver (Dale); four sons, Oddly "Mac" McKay, Jr. (Teresa), Michael McKay (Mellisa), Greg McKay (Penny) and Chris McKay (Sissy); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Zane Oliver, Michael McKay II, Trenton McKay, Terry Johnson, Ronnie Buzzetta and Paul "Buddy" Deville, Jr.
