Obituary for Shera Miller Westmoreland
Mrs. Shera Miller Westmoreland, age 81, formally of Ball, LA, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at her residence in Asheville, North Carolina.
Services for Mrs. Westmoreland will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home with Reverend Shane Morris officiating. The visitation will be on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, at a later time.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, David Allen Westmoreland; son, David Allen Westmoreland, Jr.; parents, John Whitney and Alice McManus Miller; and sister, Gay Miller Gremillion.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, David Brett Westmoreland (Sharon Shelton) of Alexandria and Denmon Whitney Westmoreland (Maryanne Mooney) of Christiansburg, VA; daughter, Tonya Westmoreland Shockley (Keith) of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Daniel Westmoreland, Crystal Shockley Brown, Matthew Shockley, Alexandra Westmoreland; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shera was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who travelled the world as a career military wife. She was a faithful Christian, who was active in church and volunteered in numerous capacities. Mrs. Shera loved, and was loved by all who knew her, and she never met a stranger. She loved the Saints and LSU and was the life of the party.
Pallbearers honored to serve include Daniel Westmoreland, Matthew Shockley, Alexandra Westmoreland, Paul Miller, and J.T. Brawner, and Jason Gintz.
