Obituary for Russell "Rusty" Wilbert Newcomb
A Memorial Service for Russell “Rusty” Wilbert Newcomb will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana with reverend Lloyd Whitman officiating.
Memorial Visitation for Mr. Newcomb will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana.
Mr. Newcomb, age 65, of Boyce, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at his home in Boyce, Louisiana.
Rusty is preceded in death by his beloved Wanda Franklin; his parents, Wilbert E. Newcomb and Kathleen Newcomb; and his grandparents, Francis H. and Mary Helen Newcomb.
Mr. Newcomb is survived by his two brothers, Joseph G. Newcomb of LaVernia, Texas, and Barry Newcomb (Bobbie) of Shuqualak, Mississippi; his sister, Sabrina M. Newcomb of Many, Louisiana; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Russel “Rusty” was the second of three boys, born on June 25, 1958. He only had one sister who was the youngest. Fishing was something that he truly enjoyed. It is hard to talk about Rusty without mentioning the way he could talk. He could tell you more in 2 minutes than you could ever begin to hear, as we are sure you have experienced. He loved to talk when he was ready. A phone call made to him was an invitation to hear about way more than you expected. Easy to be around, Rusty could make you feel comfortable and at ease. Those lucky enough to know him would agree. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends at Bill Lewis Lures; as well as his other friends and family that knew and loved him. Rusty has gone fishing in his final pond and now he and his Dad are probably fishing in heaven together, whereupon, Rusty is telling his Dad which bait to use.
