Obituary for Roy Russell Petersen, Sr.
Mr. Roy Russell Petersen, Sr., age 81, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 20, 2022 in Alexandria, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
The visitation for Mr. Roy will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Interment will follow, in Butter Cemetery in Forest Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Scarbrough Petersen; parents, Jenz and Pearlie Petersen; step-son, Chris Purdion; and siblings, Margaret Arnold, Mary Koenig, Edward Petersen, and Katy Petersen; sisters in law, Gayla and Arlene Petersen; and brother in law, Wes Koenig.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Russell Petersen, Jr., Donald Purdion, Becky Randall (Jim), and Melissa Nugent (Royce); grandchildren, Zayne Randall, Ava Petersen, Lance Randall, Gracie Nugent, Dillon Lejeunene, Renesmee Harris, and Vivian Harris; and brothers, Jessie and Julius Petersen.
Mr. Roy was a loving father, brother, and grandfather. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Mr. Roy enjoyed being outside working with plants in some way. He owned and operated Petersen Sunshine Nursery in Forest Hill for many years, and will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Zayne Randall, Julius Petersen Jr., Michael Paul Scarbrough, Bobby Scarbrough Sr., John Petersen, and Shem Guillot.
