Mrs. Rose Kaderka Purks was born June 18, 1930, in Kolin, and passed from this life on July 17, 2022, at the Oaks Care Center in Pineville at the age of 92.

Mrs. Purks lived all over North America with her husband George, who was in the US Air Force. They were stationed in California, Oklahoma, Gander, Newfoundland, and Shreveport before his retirement. At that time, they returned to Central Louisiana to be near family. She was a great support of all military members. She said that her family would cook meals for the troops and even gave them a place to stay if they were stationed locally. Mrs. Purks fondly embraced her Czech heritage, was an active member of the Kolin Lodge, and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. She dearly loved her family and fiercely defended any animal she felt was being mistreated.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Geroge Eugene Purks, Sr.; and son, George Eugene Purks, Jr.; father, John M. Kaderka; mother, Katerina “Katherine” Kaderka; sisters, Hattie Kaderka, Lydia Kaderka Dawick, Cynthia Kaderka Blaisdell, Helen Kaderka Tuma, Frances Kaderka Dengel; and brother, Joe Kaderka.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Marian Karderka Hawthorne; daughter-in-law, Sandra Newton Purks; and a host of nieces and nephews.
