Obituary for Robert Wayne Butterfield
Mr. Robert (Bob) Wayne Butterfield, age 81 of Dry Prong, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Rapides Regional Hospital.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Ardena Butterfield and his brother, Ivan William Butterfield.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Louise Butterfield; children, Dena, and her husband Brent McVicker, Bob Butterfield, and Cathy, and her husband Bill Good; one granddaughter, Chelsea, and her husband Lovic Ingram; a sister, Janis Butterfield; and three brothers, Fred Butterfield, Chuck and his wife Paula Butterfield, and John and his wife Tina Butterfield.
He served his country in the Navy for 27 years earning a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal x 5, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Antarctica Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign with two stars, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Gold Wreath Award x 11. Afterward, Bob worked with his family at Colonial Life for over 10 years. Since moving to Louisiana, Bob was very active in his church, Pineville First United Methodist Church. He joined fellow parishioners on several mission trips serving Mexico’s less fortunate. He loved woodworking, fishing, and vacationing with his family. Recently, he really enjoyed feeding and studying the hummingbirds outside.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 at First United Methodist Church of Pineville, 2550 Monroe Highway in Pineville, LA 71360. Memorial service will be at 10:00 and a private family burial will be at Butterfield Cemetery following the services.
