Obituary for Rita Glynn Joy Sanders

Mrs. Rita Glynn Joy Sanders, age 81, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She was born May 10, 1941 in Blade, La. to the union of Woodrow and Gladys Tarver Joy.

The visitation for Mrs. Sanders will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Whitehall United Pentecostal Church in Jena from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Joey Paul and Sis. Sylvia Paul officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Blade under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Morris Edwards, Jr.; father of her children, Morris Edwards, Sr.; second husband, Milton Sanders; siblings, Sonny Joy, C.W. Joy, Jane Clark, Barbara Rice, and Patsy Courtney.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Gladys Edwards Bordelon; her granddaughter and the light of her life, Emily Strout (Christian); brothers-in-law, Cecil Clark and Tom Rice; sister-in-law, Daisy Joy; stepson, Dale Sanders; stepdaughters, Beverly Petre (Vince), Darla Jones (Paul) and a host of extended family and friends.

Mrs. Sanders was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a bright spot in the lives of those she was surrounded by. Her love of God, life, and family were unmatched. Her joy and excitement were infectious. She was known to be one of the sweetest, kindest, classiest, and most generous people that one could ever meet. Mrs. Sanders was a dedicated member of the Whitehall United Pentecostal Church and Pastor Paul was without a doubt her favorite. She will forever be missed by those who loved and knew her.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Alax Paul, Isaac Clark, Tracy Clark, Simon Clark, Joey Hargrove, and Darren Wiley. Honorary Pallbearers are Tim Rice, Tony Rice, Daniel Clark, Bo Courtney, Billy Courtney, Charlie Joy, Frankie Joy, and Clint Hebert.
