Obituary for Richard D. Ellison, Jr.

Mr. Richard D. Ellison, Jr., age 74, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Summit Retirement Center, in Alexandria. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home.

Memorial Services for Mr. Ellison will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home. The visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

He was a very active member of the community. He served as Special Events Chairman of the 1982 Cenlabration, Alexandra’s first festival. He was a member of the Alexandria Jaycees for many years and served as President in 1982-1983.In 1988 he became a life member world Senator of the Jaycees International Senate. In 1983 he was selected and honored as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America. He loved to fish and hunt and held the state record for the biggest deer for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard D. Ellison, Sr. and Mary Grace Cornell Ellison; son, Richard D. Ellison III; son-in-law, Jason Brumfield; grandson, Travis Scott Bordelon.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Kimberly Bordelon, Dawn Brumfield, Amber Serio, Rebecca Ellison; mother of his children, Mary Epps; brother, George Ellison (Marian); grandchildren, Shelby Cormier, Cody Cedars, Kelly Rachal, Katie Bordelon, Damion Brumfield, Mary Katherine Brumfield, Nicholas Serio, Natalie Serio, and Boston Serio; nieces, Lori Russell and Hollie Ballard; and a host of extended family and friends.
