Richard Watson Bruce, Jr., age 75, a resident of Dry Prong, Louisiana, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at his home, with his loving wife by his side.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonia Bruce; and his parents, Richard Watson Bruce, Sr. and Allie Mae Lanier Bruce.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Powell Bruce; his loving children, Candice M. Baxter (Alvin), and Shelley A. Manuel (Gary); his loving step-children, Adam M. Zell (Candace), Jonathon L. Zell (Jessica), and Matthew S. Carlin (Hailey) and his 7 grandchildren, Hunter Baxter (Mandi), Abigail Smith, Noah Zell, Olivia Zell, Jordin Zell, Journee Zell, and Jackson Slaughter; his brother, Robert F. Bruce; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Rick proudly served his country in the Marine Corps seeing action in the Vietnam War; and retired from Dresser Valve Company after 40 years of faithful service. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

“Our dad was our hero, our champion, and his love for all of us was our light. He weathered life’s storms with an unsinkable strength and unshakable love. His will to live was fierce beyond anything we have ever seen. He taught by example, and he lived by the truth. His grandchildren were his joy and the light of his world, and he was so very proud of each of them. His legacy is the life he led and the love he left written on our hearts.”

Rick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Special thanks to the doctors and caring staff of Rapides and Cabrini hospitals, and compassionate Care Hospice.
