Pastor Robert Galloway, known by his immediate family as "Robert Earl", his church family and community as "Brother Bob", was escorted by Angels through the Pearly Gates with a Hallelujah shout on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He departed this life on his way to his reward from his residence, surrounded by his loving family. On the other side, he was met by loved ones, past church members and by Jesus who surely said, "Well Done, thy good and faithful servant!”

Brother Bob loved God, his family and his community. His passion for the ministry led him to serve 61 years in spreading the Gospel and ministering to countless individuals, the elderly and those in need. Brother Bob was a friend to all, always having a kind word of encouragement and more than happy to make himself at home in your kitchen with a cup of coffee, snack or meal. In Brother Bob’s 61 years in the ministry, he pastored only five churches. Even after retiring, he went ninety to nothing serving as a jail, hospice and funeral home chaplain, and provided pulpit ministry to numerous churches throughout Louisiana.

Bob felt a need to help churches better understand their insurance after a local church experienced a bad claim. In 1973, he started an insurance agency dedicated to insuring churches and Galloway Insurance Agency was born. The agency grew so fast that it began to hamper his church ministry, so in 1980, he began grooming his son, David Galloway, to take over the insurance agency. David took over the agency in 1985. Thus, giving Bob the opportunity to go back into full time pastoring. His vision came to fruition and is known today as Louisiana Church Insurance Inc., which insures over 1,000 churches throughout Louisiana. Bob continued to stay active in the insurance business all these years partnering churches with the agency. The relationships and friendships he formed with many, many churches eventually led him to selling life and health insurance too. Later, becoming a Medicare Specialist, he helped seniors through this complex maze. Bob’s 48 years in the insurance industry helping churches and people was his legacy, now carried on through future Galloway generations.

In the 1950’s, he served his country in the Louisiana National Guard; was a social studies teacher teaching at area high schools; had a love for music which led him to playing a multitude of instruments and singing/playing in many bands and trios; shared his amazing voice over the airwaves as DJ at WARB in Covington, Louisiana which earned him the honor of being named ‘Mr. DJ U.S.A’ and took him to the Grand Old Opry and appearing on WSM radio station as a guest, meeting and sharing time with the likes of Johnny Cash, Little Jimmie Dickins, Minnie Pearl, Jim Reeves, Roy Acuff, Jeanie Shepard, Ray Charles, The Louvin Brothers and many others.

Bob also enjoyed putting his ‘green thumb’ to work growing flowers and gardening; vacationing with family; sharing his musical and singing talents entertaining those in nursing homes and at senior events; fellowshipping as a member of High Twelve; and visiting those in the hospital and the homebound.

Brother Bob stayed extremely active up until December 2020, when he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Even through treatment, he continued to minister to all he met. He will be missed by all who were fortunate to know and love him.

Pastor Bob Galloway was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Lela Galloway, nine siblings and granddaughter, Jessica Galloway. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Essie Galloway and his two sons and daughter: David Galloway (Tracy), Randy Galloway, and Melanie Daspit (Ben). His younger sister, Mary Catherine Gonzales (Dr. Miguel); five adoring granddaughters; and eleven cherished great-grandchildren; countless extended family members; and a multitude of church family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to causes that were dear to Bob’s heart. The first of which is the Family of Grace Building Project – as a member of this beloved church, he was always excited to see it grow and flourish. Secondly, The Gideons International – with his passion for ministry and sharing God’s word, he was active in donating to them to help share the Word internationally. Please be sure to designate your donations in the name of Robert Galloway.
