Obituary for Reverend Clealand Carl Wheatly III

Reverend Carl Wheatly, III, age 83, of Deville, LA, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory.

Services for Reverend Wheatly will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Church of Pentecost in Ball, at 7:00 P.M. The visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 5:00 P.M. until the time of service. Interment well be in Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, Louisiana under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

Clealand Carl Wheatly III was born on May 28th 1937 in Hodge Louisiana. Passed from this life May 11, 2021 in Deville, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Sharon Marie Fontenot. His father Clealand Carl Wheatly II and mother Ruby MacDonald and one brother, H.E. Wheatly. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol Thornton Wheatly, and sister Cherry Reeser, his son Clebo Wheatly and wife Denise, His daughters Carla Jenkins and Husband Lee, and Jeana Weidner and husband Lonnie. Also his children, Nikki Bourgeois and Husband David, William Hall and wife Rebekah and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carl Wheatly was born in Hodge Louisiana and spent most his childhood in Brunswick Georgia. He met his loving wife Sharon during his early ministry in Dequincy, Louisiana. They spent 37 years together in ministry and pastoring in Brunswick Georgia, Atlanta Georgia, and in Ball Louisiana. He was a licensed minister in the United Pentecostal Church for over 50 years, serving in various capacities. Brother Wheatly was known for his preaching, singing, and visiting friends at home for coffee and conversation. Many came to know the Lord under his ministry.

He was a loving husband to his wife Sharon and their three children and grandchildren. After Sharon’s passing in 1995, he soon met Carol Thornton and was married to her for 24 loving years, and he also loved her children like his own.

Brother Wheatly was full of wit and humor. He enjoyed getting one over on everybody. One thing he enjoyed most in life was reading and learning, exhibited by his large library of books. His passion outside of his ministry was to visit every Goodwill, Salvation Army, and thrift store he could find. His life’s impact will be felt from Georgia to California and his legacy will continue on through his family and friends.
