Obituary for Randall Kirk Ducote

Funeral services for Mr. Randall Kirk Ducote will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Truthway Church in Pineville, LA with Reverend J.T. Merritt, D. Min officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial in Pineville with arrangements under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.
Randy Ducote was born in San Diego, California on September 13, 1964 to parents Kenneth and Margaret Ducote. He grew up in Alexandria, La and graduated from Bolton High School, thereafter attending technical college for a certification in paint and body. Randy worked a sum of years in that profession for Ray Hyde’s Paint & Body. Randy then met Shirlene of Pineville, shortly thereafter having their only son, Randall Lee. They together owned a small business in central Louisiana until Randy pursued a career in security and corrections, working for Huey P. Long Hospital, Cottonport Prison, and retiring with 20 years of service from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. While working under corrections, Randy was able to teach himself and become very fluent in the Spanish language. Throughout these years, Randy met and married Debbie Pruett of Bentley, where they spent roughly 18 years together. During his downtime, Randy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had a deep compassion for animals, especially cats, and would often times take time out of his day to stop and feed or even rescue animals that needed food and shelter. Randy occasionally attended Truthway Church in Pineville with his family where he often would tell others that this Apostolic way was ‘the only way to be saved’.
Not long after Randy retired from the prison, he fell ill. Randy passed away at the age of 58 on Tuesday, November 8th in Pineville surrounded by his loved ones. He is preceded in death by grandparents Shelton & Volcie Ducote, Marvin and Mary Margaret Nugent, and father Kenneth Ducote. Those left to cherish his memory include mother Margaret Ducote, sisters Penni Ducote and Regena Leggett, son Randall Lee Ducote, wife Sarah, only grandchild Aubrey Ducote, along with hosts of family and friends. Pallbearers will include Joseph Cady, Thomas Brister, Sean Bernard, David Willis, Caleb Nall, and Michael Pierce. Randy would have greatly appreciated his honorary pallbearers to include those officers working under the Cottonport Prison.
The Ducote family would like to express their deep love and appreciation towards the Cady family, Shirlene Lachney, Debbie Pruett, Brouillette Water Systems, Truthway Church, Compassionate Care Hospice, and the hosts of family and friends that have been alongside Randy throughout his journey.
For those of you that knew and would appreciate Randy’s words of humor- “Long live the Chief”…
