The family would like to give special appreciation to Mitzie Ferrell, Betsy Rainwater and Denise Slayter for their compassion and care of Ms. May Bakies.

May’s battle began in 2019; in January 2021, she was diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS (a form of Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She was always private about her journey through this disease and never wanted any unnecessary attention. Friends of hers may not even have known that she was sick. Through this difficult journey, there was never a day she did not put a smile on her face and say she was blessed.

May loved her family with all her heart and put her family before herself. She always gave of her time and wisdom. She had an intuition to know what was needed before it could even be asked. Her faith and trust in God were unshakable and was the strongest woman some will ever know. She was ready and excited to meet our Savior and we are so thankful God showed mercy on her. May will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.
