Obituary for Mathew Paul Arnett
Funeral services for Mathew “Big Mat” Paul Arnett, Devoted father and hustler, will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.
Visitation for Mr. Arnett will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 beginning at 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Mathew Paul Arnett, 36, died Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 in Tioga, Louisiana.
Big Mat was born March 18,1986 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Vicki Arnett of Pineville, Louisiana and Greg Marshall of Alabama. Mathew loved his family and would do whatever it took to help a family member or friend in need. He was known for his quick whit, and quick hands. As much Mat loved to make people laugh, he never ran from a fight either. Big Mat was firm in his convictions and couldn’t stand by and allow disrespect towards himself or anyone he called family. He was a man of principal, with a very tender heart. Only those closest to him can attest to how deep his love and commitment to family ran. After High School, Mathew worked several years in construction. He was also a huge supporter of legalizing marijuana and an investor in the ever- growing Cannabis Industry. He hustled hard, and no matter how tough times got, he kept pushing forward, remaining a rock for those around him to lean on. On November 25, 2013, he welcomed his only child, Jesslynn Rose, into the world. She is his greatest accomplishment.
Mathew is survived by both parents, Vicki and Greg; daughter, Jesslynn; his Uncle Larry Arnett; brothers, Michael, and Jamie (Kaitlin), from his mother. From his father, left to mourn are his brothers Pete, Andy, Micah, and Elijah, and their sisters, Suzy, Noelle, Amiah, Joy, and Grace; his step- brother and sister, Ryan and Haley Andries; also a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and one great nephew.
He was proceeded in death by his step- father, George “Big G” Andries, aunt,Cheryl “Red” Marie Arnett, and brother Jeremiah. Lastly, left to mourn his loss is Kaylee McLaughlin, Mathews girlfriend and expected mother of his second child. She has been by Mathew’s side through the good times and the not so good times. She is considered a sister by Mathew’s siblings. Mathew will be remembered as a loving father, son and brother; and one the Realest people known.
A celebration of life will commence shortly after the service. Time and location will be disclosed during visitation by the family.
