Margaret Wade Campbell, age 91 of Pineville, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. At Regency House in Alexandria, Louisiana.

A memorial Service celebrating the life of Margaret Wade Campbell will be held at 12:00 Noon. on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, 2727 Jackson Street in Alexandria with Dr. Ramonalynn Bethley officiating. Interment will be in the church columbarium.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Minnie Wilson Campbell and her half-brother, Mark Alexander.

Those left to cherish her memory are her best friend, Carolina Labrada and a host of cousins, nephews, a niece and numerous friends.

Margaret lived in Alexandria during her early years. She graduated from Bolton High School. She attended Louisiana College for two years and then went to Centenary College in Shreveport. She then went on to Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee where she received her MA in social work in 1959.

Margaret was a missionary for 23 years for the United Methodist Church. While a missionary in Mexico, she was granted a sabbatical to study in Geneva, Switzerland at the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Institute. She did a three-month in-service at a small church in Nemours, France in connection with the study.
She returned to Alexandria in 1978 to care for her mother. While here, she worked in the Rapides Parish Library and with the state as a social worker. She retired in July of 1999.

She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir at First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, her home church. She served as a board member of Rapides Habitat for Humanity and volunteered at the Working People’s Free Clinic.

If it had not been for the quiet call to serve others which became more urgent as she approached graduation at Centenary, she would not have had the wonderful, amazing opportunities to experience His love in such rich and varied ways.

1 Peter 3:15
