Obituary for Julie Delores Thomas Ganey

Julie Delories Thomas Ganey, of Tioga Louisiana, passed from this Blessed Life into Eternal Peace on March 11, 2021 at her home. She was born October 6, 1942 in Ringgold, Louisiana to Otis and Laura Thomas.

Services will be held at HIS Church in Pineville Louisiana on Monday, March 15th, 2021 officiated by Pastors Dr. Steve Speer and James Greer . The visitation is scheduled for 10:00 – 1:00 PM: The funeral service will start at 1:00 PM; immediately following will be the gravesite service that will be held at Chalk Hill Cemetery in Trout, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Ganey, Caleb Malone, Corbin Malone, Ryan Ganey, Mike Hart and Jesse DePascal. Honorary Pallbearers are James Carter, Gary Wayne Ganey, Michael Shane Ganey, Clyde Jones and John Leblanc.
Julie was a star high school basketball player and graduated from Ringgold High School in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart and beloved Raymond Harold “Harry” Ganey on December 3, 1961. She was a Pastors wife for many years and was blessed to have met and make so many wonderful friends and most became an extended part of her family. She always wore a smile and loved you for who you were. She dearly loved her family and made sure everyone around her knew it.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Ganey, her parents, Otis and Laura Thomas, her two brothers, Aldon Thomas (Carolyn) and Billy Doyle Thomas (Sammie), brother in law, Mickey Ganey.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons, Stephen Harold Ganey (Lisa), Houston, TX, Shannon Mark Ganey (Regina), Tioga and her daughter Stacy Ganey Malone, Pineville, LA. Julie adored her grandchildren and, oh how they loved their Granny. Their love for her is a testament to the special bond she shared with each one of them; Mitchell Harold Ganey (Jenny) Houston TX, Morgan Elizabeth Ganey Hart, (Mike) Fulshear, TX, Caleb Owen Malone, Pineville, LA, Meghan Rayann Ganey, Mission SD, Corbin Seth Malone, Tioga La and Ryan Cassidy Ganey Tioga, LA. Her two sister in laws, Judy Cangelosi and Penny Ganey along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Julie spent 23 years working for the Alexandria Womens Clinic and developed numerous close relationships with her co workers and loved them dearly. She never forgot to celebrate their birthdays with a homemade cake of their choice. She had so many hobbies that she enjoyed including gardening, her weekly bridge games and she loved to travel, always keeping a small bag packed and ready to go. She was an avid LSU football fan and never missed watching a game, often attending them through the years. She also was a huge supporter of the women’s basketball team as well.

As a devoted Christian with deep faith, she was a member and supporter of HIS Church in Pineville, LA. Due to the COVID 19, she never missed an on-line service and even had others including her granddaughter Meghan tuning in regularly.
