Graveside funeral services celebrating the life of Joseph Eugene McClendon will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery, Pollock, Louisiana. Arrangements entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana. Mr. McClendon, age 92 of Fishville, Louisiana entered eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Woods Haven Nursing Home, Pollock, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irma Mae Hatfield McClendon; his parents, Floy and Ernest McClendon; and his brother, G.W. McClendon. He is survived by his daughters, Katherine Jean Bergeron (Donnie), and Diane McClendon (Richard East); his 2 grandchildren, Brandon Bergeron (Kristi), and Marty Bergeron; his great granddaughter, Hailey LaRue; his sister, Blythe Bays; and a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Joe, a good and faithful servant, was a constant source of inspiration, love, and strength for his entire family and those around him. While spending his time at the nursing home, Joe could be known to spend most of his waking hours singing gospel hymns non-stop. In addition to his family and friends, he was a huge inspiration to his doctors and nursing staff. He knew where he was going and went peacefully and unafraid. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the American Alzheimer’s Association. In accordance with COVID restrictions, the family is requesting that all attendees wear a mask and refrain from shaking hands and hugging.
