Obituary for John A. Mathews III
A Memorial Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for John A. “Johnny” Mathews, III will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria, Louisiana, with Father Craig Scott officiating, and under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory in Ball, Louisiana.
John A. “Johnny” Mathews, III, age 66 of Boyce, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Naomi Heights Care Center in Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his father, John A. “Sonny” Mathews, Jr.; his brother, Terry Mathews; and his sister, Pat Myers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jeanne Rabalais Mathews; his loving children, John A. Mathews, IV (Lori), and Jason C. Mathews (Kenna); his 4 devoted grandchildren, Emorie Mathews, Jett Mathews, Colie Mathews, and Carlie Mathews; his mother, Faye “Duke” Mathews; his siblings, Susie Williams (Jessie), Kerry Knapp (B.J.), Roy Mathews (Vickie), and Jim Mathews (Leslie); his sister-in-law, Emily Mathews; his brother-in-law, Paul Myers; and his numerous nieces, nephews; other family and friends.
Johnny was a successful businessman in the Glass Industry for 40 plus years. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting. Many evenings were spent with he and Jeanne going to dinner with their friends. Above all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandkids and his friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to St. Rita Catholic Church or a charity of ones’ choice.
