Obituary for John Everest Michiels
Mr. John Everest Michiels, age 93, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his home in Ball, surrounded by his loving family.
Services for Mr. Michiels will be held in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral HOme on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Clark Palmer officiating. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow the services in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Michiels; parents, Julius and Eugenia Michiels; brothers, Julius Michiels and Frank Michiels; sister, Theresa Perkins; and brother-in-law, Malcolm Dixon.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, John E. Michiels,(Carolyn), Eugenia Michiels, and Laura Dickess; sister, Mary Ann Dixon; grandchildren, Curtis Brown, John Michiels, III (Jenna), Michael Michiels, Mary Frazier, Michelle Walters, Catherine Gintz, and Robert Brister; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of great great grandchildren.
Mr. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a proud Marine and retired as Captain with the Alexandria Fire Department. Mr. John was a skilled cabinet maker, enjoyed playing golf and watching football. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.
