Obituary for Jo Ellen Alford (Strickland)
Funeral services for Mrs. Jo Ellen Strickland Alford will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Alpine First Baptist Church, Tioga, Louisiana with Reverend Rusty Thrift officiating. Interment will be held in Tioga Cemetery, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana.
Mrs. Alford, age 70, of Pineville, LA, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a schoolteacher at Hope Baptist Church School, where she retired after 32 years of service. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and played piano at the church.
Mrs. Alford is preceded in death by her parents Nellie Stevens, Douglas Strickland; one brother, Stephen Strickland.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, George Alford; one son, Douglas Alford (Jodi) of Pineville; two daughters, Tammy Gunter (David) of Deville and Nannette Sober (Darrell) of Boyce; step-dad, Nickie Stevens; two brothers, Richard Strickland (Gina) of Canada and Clay Strickland of Utah; two sisters, Cecelia Murray (Jimmy) of Utah and Jean Schloss (Robert) of Utah; six grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be the Alexandria Police Department SWAT Team.
