Obituary for Janie Nell Hightower (Smedley)
Mrs. Janie Nell Smedley Hightower, age 76, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Dubuis Hospital in Alexandria. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home.
Services for Mrs. Hightower will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home with Edwin L. Kirkland. The visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service with interment in Garden of Memories in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Hightower was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed going to the casino, her cats, and tootsie rolls. She loved to spending countless hours fishing with her husband and would only use her Zebco 33. Mrs. Janie Hightower loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were precious to her. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Hightower; son, Christopher Hightower, Sr.; parents, Marvin Hubert Smedley and Willie Marie Walker Smedley; brother, Freddy Smedley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kevin Hightower (Sandy); daughter-in-law, Angela Hightower; grandchildren, Brittany H. Allen (Jacob), Chris Hightower, II (Kourtlyn), Brandon Hightower, and Reagan Morales; great grandchildren, Rayce Allen, Charlotte Allen, and Noah Hightower; sister, Betty Koury; special friends, Susan and Wayne Gauthier); and a host of extended family and friends.
