James Fredrick Griffin made his long appearance into this world on June 8, 1950, in New Orlean, Louisiana to James Edwin and Nancy Lee Ryan Griffin.
Frederick grew up and was raised in Colfax by his Grandpa "Bud" and Grandma "Docia" Griffin.
He lived a simple country childhood getting into mischief with his sister, Lauren, and cousins.
Later in life he married twice and had an engagement of 26 years, which has to be a record breaker, resulting in 2 daughters and 1 son that he truly was proud of.
Fred was an expert welder, hell of a mechanic, a Nobel Prize winning gardener, Mensa Invitation finalist, and an all around "Jack of all trades."
HIs love for history was nothing short of an obsession. His Nobel Peace Prize gardens could have stopped world hunger. He taught his children his love for fishing; however, he could only teach 2 children, his love for hunting. From his pet racoons throughout his life, to his Great Pyrenees, he loved animals. So much so, that one might believe he really did leave all of his worldly possessions to his dog.
When his family grew bigger in 2012, he cherished visits with his long lost sibling on his Momma's side and talks on the phone with his brother on his dad's side. Who he claimed had too thick of a New England accent to understand.
Fred loved being a Pepaw, a name he first protested, and loved his grandsons. He was proud that his oldest became a history nut just like him. He was also proud that he, along with his long lost sister, named his youngest grandson.
He will be remembered and loved by many. Not just because of his height, but because he left a memorable imprint on peoples lives.
He passed away on November 21, 2022.
He had longed for the day to see his momma again, since he was only 6 years old. And couldn't wait to join his sister Lauren and mother.
Now there is nothing left in this world for him to do.
He will be joining them along with their father, James Edwin Griffin, grandparents, William "Bud" and Theodocia Griffin; aunts, Alene and Billie; uncles, Ray and Wilmer; big cousin, Hayden, all of whom helped mold him into the man he was.
Those that he left his infinite wisdom, sense of humor, and everlasting impression on, include; his new bride, Beverly; daughters, Shelly (Patrick), Patty (Geo); son, Nick (Morgan); grandsons, Tristin and William; sister, Jackie (Kirk); brothers, Brian, Mark, Buck (Bennie); nephews, Michael, Anthony, Jeffrey; uncle Gene; aunts, Dorothea Sharmaine.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 28th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Doug and Chad James officiating.
