Obituary for James Fondren Jr.

James Albert “Big Jim” Fondren, Jr., 73, of Tallulah, LA passed from this life on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, LA. His spirit released from his earthly vessel while holding the hand of his daughter and listening to his sister sing “If you had known me before I knew you“.

Big Jim was a lifelong resident of Tallulah and spent his final years at Legacy nursing home. He was a master plumber by trade and spent many years preaching the gospel. Jimmy had three passions – his faith, his family, and his music. He loved to pick his guitar and croon an old fashion song to anyone with a listening ear.

James was preceded in death and reunited with his parents James Albert Sr. and Virginia Morrison Fondren as well as his brother Robert Dewey Fondren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son James Eric Fondren of West Monroe, his daughter Kelly Fondren Henderson of Baton Rouge, his sister Eva Marie Taylor of Winnsboro, his grandsons Cameron Henderson and Alec Fondren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will honor James in a private memorial and homecoming celebration. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his honor too:
