Obituary for James Douglas Tolbert, Sr.
Mr. James Douglas Tolbert, Sr., age 78, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at his residence in Deville, surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:15 PM on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Pineville under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home. The visitation will be held at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball from 12:00PM until 1:00PM.
Mr. James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time outdoors regardless of the activity. Duck hunting however, was his passion. Mr. James proudly served his country in the US Navy then worked for the City of Alexandria where he retired after 30 years. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack A. Tolbert and Bessie Marler Tolbert; and brother, Jack Tolbert.
Those left to cherish his memory includes his wife of 53 years, Barbara Sassler Tolbert; son, Jim Tolbert (Robin); daughter, Donna Andrews (Bill); grandchildren, Jamie Tolbert, Janna Tolbert, Keallie Smith, and Ashton Smith; brother-in-law, Bruce Hudson; and a host of extended family and friends.
