Obituary for Ira Vernon Biddle

A Memorial Gathering of Family and friends for Ira Vernon Biddle will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana.

Ira Vernon Biddle, age 88 of Bentley, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at his home in Bentley, surrounded by his loving family.

Vernon is preceded in death by Melba, his loving wife of 63 years; his daughter, Debbie Pinckley; his parents, Adron and Erma Biddle; and his siblings, Charles Biddle, James Biddle, and Carmel Matheson.

He is survived by his children, Teresa Tomlin (Donald), and Timothy Biddle (Kimberly); his loving grandchildren, Benjamin Biddle, Mathew Tomlin (Madeline), Sarah Mitchell (Samuel), and Emily Atwood (Shane); his great grandchildren, Olivia Biddle, Jackson Tomlin, Ezra Atwood, Abel Mitchell, Annabeth Tomlin, and Lily Atwood.

“Ira V.” was known for honesty, and a devotion to country, family, fishing, and his garden. He served in the U. S. Navy for 20 years; was deployed to Korea and completed two tours of Vietnam. His bravery and injuries earned him a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, along with other commendations. He used his Navy experience as a corpsman and earned his LPN license. He worked at Rapides General Hospital in various capacities until his retirement. He was one of a kind and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
