Obituary for Hazel Locothia Williams

Funeral services for Hazel Locothia Williams will be held on January 16, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, LA with Reverends Wayne Chance, Kevin Simmons, and Lyndon Marcotte presiding. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pollock, LA, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams, age 84, of Ball, LA, entered eternal rest, on Thursday, January 7, 2020 at her daughter's residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Williams had a long love of teaching. She obtained a Masters plus 30 degree from McNeese University in Lake Charles. She began her teaching career at the age of 21 in Vernon Parish. Then she moved to Calcasieu Parish and taught there until retirement. She began her substitute teaching career in Rapides Parish and continued that until the age of 81. Her love for teaching never ended.

Her love for family only surpassed her love for teaching. Hosting the Laurence family reunion was one the highlights of her later years. She enjoyed her weekly sleep overs with her granddaughter Brittany. Any time her "boys" were playing any sports event she was there cheering them on.

She was preceded in death by her spouse of 52 years, Donald Williams; her parents, Alex and Ruthie Hilton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Paul Williams (Stacy), her daughter, Paula Lanier (Mark); sister, Neval Durr; grandchildren, Brittany Foster (KC), Jacob and John Mark Lanier, Madison, Cameron and Cole Williams; one great grandson, Riley Foster; and a host of extended family including some "double" first cousins.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Jacob Lanier, John Mark Lanier, KC Foster, James Dickerson, Monroe Thompson, and James Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Laurence, Michael Laurence, Teddy Laurence, Stephen Laurence, Cameron and Cole Williams.

Special thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice. Brenda and Rhonda to come into a strangers home and make us feel like we are a part of your family, is a calling only special people can accomplish.
