Gloria Ducote, 66, of Moreauville, passed away peacefully at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, LA on December 8, 2020. She was surrounded by her 3 children whom she adored.
Gloria, affectionately referred to as “Glo” by many, was a remarkable, loving mother to her 3 children. She absolutely adored all of her grandchildren and found significant ways to connect with each one of them; it certainly was a joy to watch her interact with her grandchildren. Gloria was also an outstanding cook. She loved to cook and you could often find her in the kitchen, but her children recall their mother never using any recipes. All of her cooking was from memory. Gloria also enjoyed her coffee and could often be found at the kitchen counter drinking a cup of coffee while playing a round of cards, Rumi to be exact, or solitaire if no one was around to play with her.
Over the years, Gloria’s work tenure was split equally among Poret’s Thriftyway Pharmacy in Cottonport and Paragon Casino in Marksville. She loved her work and being able to help others. The friendships and relationships she made during her career was something she treasured dearly.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jared Ducote (Tara) of Cottonport, Keith Ducote (Natalie) of Natchitoches and Hope Chenevert (Troy) of Plaucheville; grandchildren, Anthony Baronne, Abby Baronne, Abby Ducote, Logan Chenevert, Ethan Ducote, Karmelya Ducote, Ava Ducote, Allie Ducote, and Charlee Ann Ducote; brothers, Fred Schoonover (Connie), Gary Schoonover; sister, Donna Brassette (Barney); nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Ducote; parents, Wilfred Schoonover and Marjorie Kelly Schoonover; and infant brother, Rickey Schoonover.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or charity of your choice.
