Obituary for Gerald O. "Jerry" Tarter
Mr. Gerald O. “Jerry” Tarter entered eternal rest on May 14, 2022 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Helen Tarter; and his sister, Dorothy Tarter West.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, LaVerne Futrell Tarter; his loving son, Larry W. Tarter; his devoted grandchildren, Dawn m. tarter and Shawna Borgman (Phil); his 3 great grandchildren; his other family and friends.
Jerry was retired from the City of Alexandria Fire Department and the Insurance Industry. He had been a Master Mason since October of 1958. He was a member of Alexandria lodge # 398, Alexandria, Louisiana and El Karubah Shrine Temple, Shreveport, Louisiana. Jerry was also a member of CENLA Shrine Club, Alexandria, Louisiana having served as President in 1989. He was a member of the Oriental Band since 1979. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
At his request, Jerry wanted no Memorial Service held and that Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103.
