Obituary for Floyd Thornhill
Mr. Floyd Thornhill, age 86, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Alexandria at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
The visitation for Mr. Thornhill will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Gallagher Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Keith Dickens officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Thornhill; parents, Horace Thornhill and Annie Weatherford Thornhill; brothers, Rusty, Jack, and Bill Thornhill.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Rusty Thornhill (Diana) and Richard Thornhill (Dana); daughter, Lane Walter (David); sons' mother, Mary Thornhill; brother, Gene Thornhill; sisters, Mille Clase (Jerry) and Elizabeth Nordin (Jim); grandchildren, Ebb Harrison and Lacey Thornhill; and great grandchild, Summer Harrison; and a host of extended family and friends.
Mr. Thornhill was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He worked hard at whatever job he was doing. He owned and operated two nursing homes in Louisiana, was the Maintenance Supervisor at Louisiana College, and would tinker with just about anything. Mr. Thornhill enjoyed travelling in his motorhome and hunting in his younger years. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.
