Obituary for Florence Maudene Henry Proffitt

Mrs. Florence Maudene Henry Proffitt, age 92, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 8, 2021 at her residence in Pineville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory.

Florence Maudene Henry Proffitt, known to all as “Grandma Flo,” was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on February 19, 1929, and passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 8, 2021.

She was an amazing story-teller and lover of history. She had a vivacious personality and made friends wherever she went. She was a member of the Washington State Pen Pal Club for over 40 years, with well over 150 pen pals, all of whom she cherished.

She loved knitting and worked tirelessly to make cotton dishrags and slippers for those she cared for. If you received one, treasure it, for there was love in every stitch.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Norman Proffitt, her only son, Garry Henry, Sr., and six brothers: Stanley, Edgar, Sam, A.B., Jack, and Robert Henry.

Those left to carry on her legacy are: her “bonus” daughter, Carolyn Morehouse; three grandchildren, Garry Henry, Jr. (wife, Nancy), Zak Henry, and Raychel Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Lily Justice (husband, Ethan), Isaac Henry, Trinity Smith, Isabel Henry, Joseph Harbor, Silas Harbor, Chant Cannon, and Arianna Cronburg; one great-great-grandson, Kai Justice; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Grandma Flo to the Philadelphia Baptist Church Building Fund and / or the Pineville Camp Gideons.
